Strangest Sculptures I've Seen - Vigeland Park, Oslo

  • Post a comment

So in my travels and musing on travels I happened to come across a park with the strangest statues that I've ever seen in my life.  Welcome to Vigeland Park in Oslo.  It is designed in honor of a rather unusual Gustav Vigeland who sculpted each statue in the park.  When I tried to learn more about the park they didn't really have much information on WHY he sculpted what he did, so I guess we just have to enjoy it as much as we can.

Some day I will have the time and money to visit some of the marvelous Buddha statues that are from around the world.  For now I can just look at the pictures and dream.  They are beautiful aren't they?

Traveling to Spain

  • Post a comment

I decided that if I ever make enough money to retire early, that traveling to Spain is one of my goals in life.  The culture, people, food and architecture all just seem to jell so well with me that I think it would be a natural fit for me.  Not speaking Spanish would just be a milestone on my path to enjoying myself in Spain.  I could go to the beach, drink Spanish wine and just relax in a European paradise.  Just need that money...

The Web's Electrical Bill

It's pretty amazing when you add up all the little computers, switches and wires you see how much electricity we use to make the web go.  As amazing this is, I think that there should be a graph to show how much we save in resources like paper and sending people all over the world for travel because of the interconnectedness of the internet.  I bet it vastly out weighs the usage of the internet.

Funny Green Christmas Cards

  • Oct 29, 2009
  • Post a comment

I know it might seem a little earlier to talk about Christmas, but I just loved this funny card that I needed to share it with everyone.  It is so cute when people take the green message from the real world and put it into something cute and seasonal like this card. I think this is my holiday card for sure.  Already found it!

Vitamen D Lackage

Everyone needs to spend at least a little amount of time in the sun otherwise rickketts will be your outcome!  There is a new study that is showing kids are spending too much time inside playing video games and not enough time running around outside getting exposure to fresh air and sun.  I think this is terrible because it teaches kids that staying inside all day is OK.  We need to show kids the parks and gardens of the world to show them that their is beauty beyond the television.  I am sure that most kids won't get ricketts but it is still something to think about.  Drink your milk and get some sun!

Calvin and Hobbes...Still Relevant

Amazing that a cartoon done over 10 years ago applies EXACTLY to what we are going through right now.  And it's still funny!

NY Times Toxic Waters is a MUST READ!

  • Oct 20, 2009
  • Post a comment

If you want an amazingly in depth look at the state of water in the US, look no further than the New York TImes' wonderful report entitled "Toxic Waters."  This report is scary, sad and wholly truthful about what many of us already knew about the state of water in the United States.  The sad part is that no one seems to care about it until now.  I hope that this article starts us on the trail for real change.  Read this article it's awesome.

Invest in Solazyme

  • Oct 18, 2009
  • Post a comment

If I were a betting man (and had extra cash)  I would be getting some money ready to invest in the SF Algae company Solazyme.  This little company is turning Algae into fuels with big contracts for the Air Force and Navy.  If they hit it right with their magic Aglae formula and process then you are sure to see Solzyme pumps next to unleaded in the coming future.

Recycling Binders

There is no better way to celebrate recycling than with a custom binder. I really like this idea because it allows you to keep everything organized and in one place.  Plus it has trees on it and I really like trees ;)
