There's even a little more you can do to help save the planet and that's in the shower! Lots of name brand shampoos have chemicals in them that just run down the drain when you're done washing your hair and pollute the water supply. You don't need those chemicals. Women/Men have been washing their hair for hundreds of years before plastics and crazy chemicals that I don't even want to spell. They are just short cuts from a lazy cosmetics industry. That's why you need to return to your roots and get a chemical free shampoo that doesn't hurt you and doesn't hurt the planet.

Check out this recent study (http://www.physorg.com/news169743896.html) that basically shows an undeniable link between toxicity in water and lawn fertilizer. Of course this can be extrapolated out to look at the bigger picture of fertilizer products for big ag and of course cows droppings. We need to change the way we water and control the use of water. I don't think that anyone should be allowed to have lawns and just over fertilize them and poision the rest of the people that share the same water table. We need to have responsibility and we need to have it now if we as a nation are going to survive ourselves.
Look at this calendar below. It is exactly what I wish I had the time to do with my life. I wish I could spend all of 2010 just wondering around the world collecting stories and images from the furthest reaches of the planet and trying to understand new and interesting ways to relate to people. This Calendar inspires me and makes me want to see all of these new things. Now if I only had the money to do them...

How would you like to be part of a Muni sandwich if you're visiting San Francisco? Kind of scary when you think about it, just having a train crash into you. I don't know what I would do I mean you can't get out of your car because you might get caught under it and being in the car might also kill you because you get crushed. Very scary indeed.

I love this new electric car from Nissan called the Leaf! I believe it is going to be available next year and has a top speed of 76 mph (much faster than the 65 I travel at). One thing that it falls a little short on is that it only has a 100 mile range where as the Chevy Volt has double that. I am not sure many people would want to charge their car like 10 times a week so I hope that they extend the range, otherwise the volt might become the market dominator. Still a cool car though and I am loving these new electric cars!

The above picture may look like this whale is about to have a woman snack, but instead the whale is actually guiding the woman to surface since it saved her life from drowning. Read the full article here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/5931345/Beluga-whale-saves-diver.html
This just goes to show that when you work in harmony with the natural world that you can actually succeed so much more than trying to kill or control it. Some day I hope that most humans recognize that.
Now you and I both know that having CFLs in the home is great because it saves energy and therefore requires energy companies to produce less energy and emit less carbon. However, there is one draw back to these lightbulbs. they contain mercury. So that means that you can't just throw them away to be put into the dump, they need to be disposed of at a hazardess waste facility that can handle heavy metals. I know that may seem like an extra amount of work, but think of it this way - you don't have to change them out but once every three years so this won't be a lot of trips you need to take.
I have been one that always thinks we should share our ideals with friends, family and everyone else in a friendly way and not to try to force the matter. That is why I love things like this organic greeting card below. I can send a birthday message to my little cousins with this card and they will get the message of my birthday wishes and of course a little extra message. See below to understand what I mean ;)

Do you have an electric can opener? Get rid of it! Go recycle that thing right now. It's useless appliances like electric can openers that make Americans lazy and cause needless waster to the environment. It's time we return a little manual labor into our lives to help save the planet and getting rid of things like electric can openers, electric knives, etc can be the first step.

Here's a question for you, why does bottled water have an expiration date? Answer: Because it's not supposed to exist.
When the FDA has a rule that basically everything must have an expiration date of at least two years after it's production. That means that ever since they started bottling water, they've had to have an expiration date on it. Does that mean that water actually expires? No. But it does point out the simple fact that this rule doesn't work for water because the FDA wasn't conceived as an agency to monitor water - that's the job of the EPA (which does a much better job of it than the FDA). So now we have a rule that applies to foods on water because of the crappy bottled water floating around. What's the solution? Drink tap water, its cleaner, better, and won't expire.
