Coke Goes for Plant Based Bottles

  • Nov 22, 2009
  • Post a comment

I applaud coke for making a stride in making their company a little greener.  They have started to move toward plant based bottles to have a bottle that has less of an impact on the environment.  I think this is great and although Coke is still a major corporation that does more good than bad you can be sure that this marketing tactic has some good in it.

PUSH! The Story of Japanese Subways

I am all for people using public transit en mass, but when you have a guy's job be entirely devoted to cramming the most people possible into a train well that is when claustrophobia sets in for me and I am taking a taxi.  I'm not saying that I would freak out in a small room or something like that, I'm just saying I would freak out in a small room crammed with 200 Japanese people.

Bad Sign Funny T-Shirt

I saw this shirt today and I thought it was funny enough that it was worth sharing.  It's not that the shirt is overly funny it is just that it is such a dumb joke that I can't help but like it.  I mean there is no such thing as a bad sign yet there it is.  Well done to the person that thought it up, I am sure that I am not that clever.

Strangest Sculptures I've Seen - Vigeland Park, Oslo

  • Nov 10, 2009

So in my travels and musing on travels I happened to come across a park with the strangest statues that I've ever seen in my life.  Welcome to Vigeland Park in Oslo.  It is designed in honor of a rather unusual Gustav Vigeland who sculpted each statue in the park.  When I tried to learn more about the park they didn't really have much information on WHY he sculpted what he did, so I guess we just have to enjoy it as much as we can.

Some day I will have the time and money to visit some of the marvelous Buddha statues that are from around the world.  For now I can just look at the pictures and dream.  They are beautiful aren't they?

Traveling to Spain

  • Nov 4, 2009
  • Post a comment

I decided that if I ever make enough money to retire early, that traveling to Spain is one of my goals in life.  The culture, people, food and architecture all just seem to jell so well with me that I think it would be a natural fit for me.  Not speaking Spanish would just be a milestone on my path to enjoying myself in Spain.  I could go to the beach, drink Spanish wine and just relax in a European paradise.  Just need that money...

The Web's Electrical Bill

  • Nov 1, 2009
  • Post a comment

It's pretty amazing when you add up all the little computers, switches and wires you see how much electricity we use to make the web go.  As amazing this is, I think that there should be a graph to show how much we save in resources like paper and sending people all over the world for travel because of the interconnectedness of the internet.  I bet it vastly out weighs the usage of the internet.
