So it is no surprise that most fuel efficient car in the US is the prius. It is light, hybrid and has some of the most advanced features a car could have to make sure that everyone can get where they need to be with the least amount of gas as possible. Now I wouldn't recommend that everyone go out and get this car, but it is nice to recognize what a good job Toyota has done and trying to save the planet and our wallets all at once. I give them mad props, but now I look to their competition, Honda, to try and make something that is a little better than the Prius. That is what I love about the Japanese car companies that is so much better than the US car companies, instead of trying to figure out how many cup holders they can fit in the car they are thinking up new ways to save us money and save the planet all at once. That is innovation that I excited about.

I am glad (on one level) that gas prices are starting to drop because it will be less of a strain on so many Americans budget, but I am still happy that the gas crisis happened. Yes it was hard, but look at the change it has brought on. Now big car manufacturers are focusing on making smaller, cleaner and more fuel efficient cars that can even use alternative styles of energy. I mean, I can't tell you how many freakin' smart cars I see these days and you know that wouldn't happen if this crisis didn't force the people of the world to make a choice and break free of their high gas consumption ways. My only hope is that people never forget this so that conservation becomes a daily part of their existence. Anyway it is nice to see gas dropping a little so that I can go back to affording other luxuries in my life. Now for the real question, who were the jerks that made it go that high in the first place and what court can we try them in?
Why are sunflowers the future of fuel? Well because they have oil like most vegetables that can and will be turned into a fuel that is abundant and cheaper than gas in the long run. Check out this Clean tech article that discusses these points. I hope that we move sooner rather than later on these future fuels because there is not much more I can stand of$4 gas and continued fighting in the middle east. And as much as all Americans hate to admit this, both of those things wouldn’t exist if we invested liberally in future technologies to solve these crises.
