I know that everyone loves to wash their clothes in hot because they believe that is how the stains get out (even thought that is what the detergent is for), but I bet what these people aren't realizing is the deep impact this has on our ecological system. Washing your clothes in hot uses almost TWICE as much energy as washing them in warm. That is huge. It would be so easy for everyone to switch to warm, or even cold to help do a little to save this planet.

Check out this recent study (http://www.physorg.com/news169743896.html) that basically shows an undeniable link between toxicity in water and lawn fertilizer. Of course this can be extrapolated out to look at the bigger picture of fertilizer products for big ag and of course cows droppings. We need to change the way we water and control the use of water. I don't think that anyone should be allowed to have lawns and just over fertilize them and poision the rest of the people that share the same water table. We need to have responsibility and we need to have it now if we as a nation are going to survive ourselves.

It's summer and we can all do our part to try and save some water so that those jerks in LA still have some of our water to drink for the rest of the year. So in the spirit of sharing I have some helpful tips that are easy to do and will go a long way to help us save water for this drought and many future droughts to come.
1. Landscape your home with native plants - Do you really think that you need a rain forest in your backyard? No probably not. Native plants are adapted to our constant drought conditions so they require less water than exotic plants. And they beautify California with plants that exist naturally.
2. Turn off the Faucet - You don't need to run the faucet when you shave or brush your teeth so when the razor is on your face on the toothbrush in your mouth just turn the faucet off.
3. Don't run the tap when washing dishes - If you're going to hand wash dishes just fill a basin with water. It may seem like you are using more water but you actually waste a lot of water by running the tap when hand washing dishes.
With these simple tips we can save millions of gallons of water to make sure that there is enough to go around this year and next.
This has to be one of the most awesome displays of how nature can just take the world we try to create and just rip it to pieces. Check out this video below of nature just destroying this road in a matter of minutes.

Constantly people wonder, "how do I recycle my batteries?" Well it isn't that hard and no you can't just throw them into the trash or recycle bin. Since batteries have toxic chemicals in them that can leak into ground water it is important that you take your dead batteries to recycling centers that can handle hazardous waste. Many cities have drop off points that are perfect for this and they don't cost a thing. What I like to do is save my batteries in a box until the box is full and then find a recycling center that will take them by going to EHSO.com to find a recycling center near my home. Try it out, it's much safer for future generations that will depend on that clean drinking water.
I know that we are in a water crisis right now and that there are major changes that need to be done to the California water system. I also make sure that each day I try my best to use as little water as I can (yes I let it mellow if it's yellow). That is why I need a break. I need something to keep me sane and I think a t-shirt like this is just the trick. I mean it has all the principles of being green and saving water it just presents it in a way that everyone can find a little humorous. See below to understand what I am talking about.

So a survey done by some company (more information here) found that there were 11 compounds commonly found in drinking water all across the US. Some of the compounds were industrial chemicals but most where prescription drugs that people had just thrown away or flushed down the toilet. Of course these were found at low levels and are now considered not to be harmful to people, but this is still something to think about. The more and more medications that come out to continue to heal us and the less and less common citizens like you and I dispose of them properly the more we will destroy our beautiful water system. Now should be that wake up call people that it is the time to take recycling and proper disposal of medications seriously because once they reach dangerous levels it will be too late for us to reverse it and we will all have viagra erections and low blood pressure at the same time which I doubt is a good combination...
